Electron microscopic study on human eccrine sweat glands.

چکیده
Electron microscope observations on eccrine sweat glands have been carried out by many workers, namely on human eccrine swear glands by HIBBS (1958), IIJIMA (1959), CHRALES (1960), KUROSUMI et al. (1960), and MUNGER (1961) and on those of animals by KITAMURA (1958), MUNGER et al. (1961), ELLIS et al. (1961), MATSUZAWA et al. (1963), KUROSUMI et al. (1964) and TERZAKIS (1964). Already by means of light microscopy, it has been established that the secretory epithelium of the eccrine sweat gland is composed of two types of secretory cells, the superficial or dark cells and the basal or clear cells (ITO 1949 and MONTAGNA 1956). By electron microscopy this finding has been confirmed by almost all investigators mentioned above, but HIBBS (1958) alone proposed the existence of the third cell type or intermediate cells located between secretory cells and myoepithelial cells. these cells, however, were regarded by several authors as modified myoepithelial cells. Although the ultrastructural characteristics of the three cellular components of the secretory portion, the superficial and basal secretory cells as well as myoepithelial cells, have been examined by previous invessigators, several important ultrastructural problems on these cells remain unclarified or in dispute. In the present study the authors have attempted electron microscopic observations on the eccrine sweat glands in human axillary skins obtained operatively from young women to contribute some new findings to the electron microscopic knowledges of the eccrine sweat gland.

Electron microscopic study on the duct of the human eccrine sweat gland with special remarks on the transitional portion epithelium.
Long tubular excretory duct of the human eccrine sweat gland has been divided by light microscopy into three portions: the initial or coiled portion which is included in the glandular coil, the ascending or straight portion which runs in the dermis toward the epidermis and the terminal or intraepidermal portion which ascends spirally through the epidermis toward the free surface of the skin to ...
متن کاملPAR-2 receptor-induced effects on human eccrine sweat gland cells.
Serine proteases can induce cell signaling by stimulating G-protein-coupled receptors, called proteinase-activated receptors (PAR's) on a variety of epithelial cells. While PAR-2, one such receptor, activates cell signaling in a secretory cell line derived from human sweat glands, there was no information on their presence and effects on intact sweat glands. PAR-2 presence and activation of ecc...
متن کاملAn Electron Microscopic Study of Eccrine Sweat Glands of the Cat Foot and Toe Pads—evidence for Ductal Reabsorption in the Human
The eccrine sweat glands of the cat foot and toe pads have been studied by light and electron microscopy before and after stimulation with mecholyl. The ultrastructure of these glands in the cat is found to be entirely comparable to that in the human (13). The ultrastructure and staining properties of the secretory segment of the two species are identical. The ductal part of the feline gland is...

متن کاملEccrine poroma and porocarcinoma on the same unusual location: report on two cases*
Eccrine poroma is a benign adnexal tumour of the uppermost portion of the intraepidermal eccrine sweat gland duct and acrosyringium. Eccrine porocarcinoma is the malignant phenotype arising from the intraepidermal portion of the eccrine sweat gland duct epithelium or from pre-existing eccrine poroma. Both commonly occur in the palms or sides of the feet; these areas have a high concentration of...
